For a Mother her Child is ‘Her World!’

For a Mother her Child is ‘Her World!’

After Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala’s love for His slaves and Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam’s love for his Ummah, which love is the strongest, completely unconditional, most forgiving, overflowing with priceless sacrifices and totally free of charge?

Obviously a MOTHER’S LOVE!

What are the attributes of a mother’s love?

It is indeed very difficult to give full justice in words when describing a mother’s love!

A mother’s love is warm and compassionate!

A mother’s love is consistent and it never fades!

A mother’s love is much more than a bouquet of the most fragrant flowers!

A mother’s love assists us to conquer our fears and our anxieties!

A mother’s love provides us help when we are undergoing certain emotional or physical problems along the way in the challenges of life!

When a mother gives birth to a child and the moment she casts her first glance on that child she is overwhelmed with a feeling of deep love and affection. She forgets all the pain and distress she might have suffered during her pregnancy period and at the time of delivery.

We all know that for the mother that child is ‘Her World!’.

What about the child?

Let us take that child to be a son. While the son for the mother is like ‘her World!’, the mother for the son is like ‘His World!’, immediately after his birth.

Some months later as the boy grows up he gets attached to his father. Now ‘His World’ that consisted of his mother alone is shared by his father too!

For the mother her son is still ‘Her World!’.

A few years later the boy finds some friends. He gets attached to them. In ‘His World’ are now included his friends too.

For the mother the son still remains ‘Her World!’.

As the boy grows up he joins school. From the school he goes to university and qualifies as a professional. He soon starts earning plenty of money. More and more people come into ‘his World’ and his mother ceases to be a very significant person in ‘his World’. In fact, he starts showing disrespect to her in a number of ways.

The son’s indifference and his ‘don’t care’ attitude towards his mother does not reduce her love for him. She still holds him as ‘Her World!’.

The scenario is even more severe in the Western culture! Here the son does not find time to look after his aged parents. He sends his parents, including his mother, to an old people’s home. He forgets that it is the same woman who, with the Grace of Allah, brought him to this world after suffering all kinds of pains and discomforts for more than nine long months; it is the same woman who used to wake up at odd hours of the night just to attend to his needs and to see that he remained at ease and it is the same woman who used to feed him with her milk.

Notwithstanding all the pains she goes through due to the separation from her dear son, the son still remains ‘Her World!’.

For days, or even for months, the son does not come to visit her. He does not even bother to ring her up on regular basis. Leave aside that, he does not even come to see her when she is suffering from any ailment.

However, for the mother the son’s position remains unaltered in her life. He still is ‘Her World!’.

The mother is in hospital. She is close to her death. However, her eyes are fixed on the door of her ward. She is anxiously waiting for her son to come and visit her before she takes her last breath.

Obviously because he is ‘Her World!’.

This is the MOTHER’S LOVE!

How heartbreaking it is to learn that there are people in this world who treat in such a ruthless manner, a person who suffered so much pains to bring them to this worldthe one who adores them and admires them the most!

Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar (radhiAllahu ‘anhu) saw a Yemeni man going around the Ka’bah in Makkah while carrying his mother on his back. This man said to Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar (radhiAllahu ‘anhu), “I am like a tame camel for her! I have carried her more than she carried me. Do you think I have paid her back, oh Ibn ‘Umar?” Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar replied, “No, not even one contraction [during childbirth]!!”

The above narration proves we can never compensate a mother for what she goes through during the pregnancy and at the time of childbirth.

In fact, we should let our first priority in life be to look after our mother!

We should love herrespect herserve her, be close to her and fulfill all her wishes!

Let us hold our mother in a very high esteem, while she is alive!

A time will come when our mother will no more be around, she will have gone very far from us!

We will be longing to see her but we will not be able see her even for a fraction of a second!

Given below are a few verses to describe a mother’s love.

A Mother’s Love

The cool and soothing shade of a tree,

The sweet and pleasant fragrance of a flower.

The towering height of a mountain,

The unfathomable depth of an ocean.

The warmth and the radiance of the first ray of the sun,

The calming, milky white glow of the moonlight.

Allah has placed the Virtues

of all these qualities in

the sincere and self-sacrificing

Love of a MOTHER!

Serve your mother in this world

To secure a lofty place in the next!

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala give us the hidayat to value our mothers for their boundless love for us…Ameen
