Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said:

“Indeed the first of what will be asked about on the Day of Judgment – meaning the slave (of Allah) being questioned about the favors – is that it will be said to him: ‘Did We not make your body, health, and give you of cool water to drink?’”

Ibn `Abbas Radiallahu Anhu reported:

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) used to teach us Tashahhud just as he used to teach us a Surah of the Qur'an, and he would say:

“All services rendered by words, acts of worship, and all good things are due to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), and Allah's mercy and blessings. Peace be upon us and upon Allah's upright servants. I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), is the Messenger of Allah.”

Ibn 'Umar Radiallahu Anhu narrated that the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:

"Do not talk too much without remembrance of Allah. Indeed excessive talking without remembrance of Allah hardens the heart. And indeed the furthest of people from Allah is the harsh-hearted."

Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrated that the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:

"DO you know who the bankrupt is?" They said: "O Messenger of Allah! The bankrupt among us is the one who has no Dirham nor property." The Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: "The bankrupt in my Ummah is the one who comes with Salat and fasting and Zakat on the Day of Judgement, but he comes having abused this one, falsely accusing that one, wrongfully consuming the wealth of this one, spilling the blood of that one, and beating this one. So he is seated, and this one is requited from his rewards. If his rewards are exhausted before the sins that he committed are requited, then some of their sins will be taken and cast upon him, then he will be cast into the Fire."

Hakim bin Hizam (Radiallahu Anhu) reported that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said, "The upper hand is better than the lower one; and begin (charity) with those who are under your care; and the best charity is (the one which is given) out of surplus; and he who wishes to abstain from begging will be protected by Allah; and he who seeks self- sufficiency will be made self-sufficient by Allah."

It was narrated that Qais bin Abi Gharazah Radiallahu Anhu said:

"At the time of the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam we used to be called Samasir (brokers/middlemen).

Narrated An-Nu`man bin Bashir Radiallahu Anhu:

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said "Both halal and haram things are obvious, and in between them are (suspicious) doubtful matters. So whoever forsakes those doubtful things lest he may commit a sin, will definitely avoid what is clearly illegal; and whoever indulges in these (suspicious) doubtful things bravely, is likely to commit what is clearly illegal. Sins are Allah's Hima (i.e. private grazing pasture) and whoever grazes (his sheep) near it, is likely to get in it at any moment."

I was with the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) along with Maimunah (Radiayallahu Anha) when Ibn Umm Maktum (Radiayallahu Anhu) (who was blind) came to visit him. (This incident took place after the order of Hijab). The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) told us to hide ourselves from him (i.e., observe Hijab). We said: "O Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), he is blind and is unable to see us, nor does he know us." He replied; "Are you also blind and unable to see him?"

Narrated by Aisha Radiallahu Anha

I bought a cushion with pictures on it. When Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) saw it, he kept standing at the door and did not enter the house. I noticed the sign of disgust on his face, so I said, "O Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)! I repent to Allah and His Apostle. (Please let me know) what sin I have done." Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, "What about this cushion?" I replied, "I bought it for you to sit and recline on." Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, "The painters (i.e. owners) of these pictures will be punished on the Day of Resurrection. It will be said to them, 'Put life in what you have created (i.e. painted).' " The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) added, "The angels do not enter a house where there are pictures."

When the Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam came to Medina, he found (the Jews) fasting on the day of 'Ashura' (i.e. 10th of Muharram). They used to say: "This is a great day on which Allah saved Moosa Alayhis salaam and drowned the folk of Firoun. Moosa Alayhis salaam observed the fast on this day, as a sign of gratitude to Allah." Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said, "I am closer to Moosa Alayhis salaam than they are." So, he observed the fast (on that day) and ordered the Muslims to fast on it.

Al-Hasan narrated from Abu Hurairah Radiallahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said:
"Who will take these statements from me, so that he may act upon them, or teach one who will act upon them?" So Abu Hurairah Radiallahu anhu said: "I said: 'I shall O Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)!' So he (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) took my hand and enumerated five (things), he said: "Be on guard against the unlawful and you shall be the most worshiping among the people, be satisfied with what Allah has alloted for you and you shall be the richest of the people, be kind to your neighbor and you shall be a believer, love for the people what you love for yourself and you shall be a Muslim. And do not laugh too much, for indeed increased laughter kills the heart."

Narrated by Al-Bara' Radiallahu Anhu:

I heard the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam delivering a Khutba saying, "The first thing to be done on this day (first day of `Id ul Adha) is to pray; and after returning from the prayer we slaughter our sacrifices (in the name of Allah) and whoever does so, he acted according to our Sunnah (traditions)."

Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari (Radiallahu anhu) narrated, ‘Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah (the 9th of the month of Dhul Hijjah). He replied, "Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year.”

He was also asked about fasting on the day of Ashura (the 10th of the month of Muharram). He replied, “Fasting on the day of Ashura is an expiation for the preceding year.”
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam was also asked about fasting on Monday, and he replied, "This is the day on which I was born and the day on which I was sent (with the Message of Islam) and the day on which I received revelation."

It was narraterd from Jabir bin 'Abdullah Radiallahu Anhu that, during the year of the Conquest, while he was in Makkah, he heard the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) say:
"Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, and His Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) have forbidden the sale of alcohol, dead meat, pigs and idols." It was said to him: "O Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), what do you think of their fat of dead animals, for it is used to caulk ships, it is daubed on animal skins, and people use it to light their lamps?" He said: "No, it is unlawful." Then the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: "May Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, curse the Jews, for Allah forbade them the fat (of dead animals) but they rendered it, sold it, and consumed its price."

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: "When your leaders are the best of you, the richest are the most generous among you, and your affairs are consulted among you, then the surface of the earth is better for you than its belly. And when your leaders are the worst of you, the richest are the stingiest among you, and your affairs are referred to your women, then the belly of the earth is better for you than its surface."

Narrated by An-Nu`man bin Bashir Radiallahu anhu:

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, "The example of the person abiding by Allah's order and restrictions in comparison to those who violate them is like the example of those persons who drew lots for their seats in a boat. Some of them got seats in the upper part, and the others in the lower. When the latter needed water, they had to go up to bring water (and that troubled the others), so they said, 'Let us make a hole in our share of the ship (and get water) saving those who are above us from troubling them. So, if the people in the upper part left the others do what they had suggested, all the people of the ship would be destroyed, but if they prevented them, both parties would be safe."
