Asma’ bint Yazid Ansariyyah relates that she addressed Rasûlullah sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam saying: "O Rasûlullah! I have been sent as an envoy by other women. They are saying that men have surpassed us on account of their attending the jumu'ahsalat, congregational salat, visiting the sick, attending the janazah, hajj,‘umrah, and defending the borders of the Islamic state." He replied: "Go back to these women and inform them that for them to beautify themselves for their husbands or fulfil the marital relationships with them,
“The worldly life is nothing but substance of deception.”
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “The world is the prison of the Mu’min and the paradise of the Kaafir.”
All things which give pleasure here to the nafs without being of any merit in the Aakhirah is termed dunya. We are afflicted with a number of spiritual ailments all having their origin in the love of the world. About this disease, hubb-e-dunya, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:
“Love of the world is the root of all evil.”
If this root ailment is treated and cured, all other maladies flowing from it will also disappear. A man overwhelmed by hubb-e-dunya has no concern and time for the Aakhirah. Such a person having no care for the Aakhirah will not be bothered about righteous deeds nor will he abstain from evil. The one in whom there is hubb-e-dunya has very little fikr for the Deen. Increase in the degree of hubb-e-dunya brings about a corresponding decrease in fikr (concern) for the Deen. Total hubb-e-dunya entails total lack of fikr for the Deen. This is manifest in the kuffaar.
HOW TO GET THE REWARD OF FASTING FOR THE WHOLE YEAR!!!
The Month of Shawwal begins with one of the most auspicious days - Eid ul Fitr. Eid ul Fitr is a day of great ibaadah and a day of immense happiness.
The month of Shawwal is further enhanced by the six voluntary fasts which can be kept within it.
Nabi (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) reports that: “Whoever completes the fasts of Ramadan and then follows it with the six fasts of Shawwal, it will carry the thawaab (reward) of fasting for the whole year.” (Muslim)
Scholars have commented on the six fasts stating that every good deed is multiplied by ten, therefore the reward of 30 days of Ramadan amounts to the reward of 300 days of fasting.
The six fasts of Shawwal amounts to the rewards of 60 more days, hence raising the aggregate reward to 360 - a whole year’s reward of fasting!
This hadith has described the great thawab of six fasts of this month. Therefore, the Muslims should take this opportunity of acquiring such an enormous reward from Allah. It is more preferable to start these fasts from the 2nd of Shawwal and keep fasting up to the 7th of it. However, if, they are kept in other days, it is hoped that the requirement of the above hadith may also be fulfilled.
Q&A: Baseless Imposition of Unified Eid in Southern Africa
Q. I will appreciate it if the learned scholars of the Jamiat can answer the following question: Why do the South African Ulama refuse to work with the Ulama of neighbouring countries to establish the reliability of moon-sightings, and to work towards ensuring that Muslims in Southern Africa start Ramadaan and make Eid on the same day? I ask because I have read in Taalim ul Islam and Fatawa Rahimiyyah that reliable global sightings are acceptable.
Furthermore, please explain why Eid ul Adha is not made with Haajis. I have been told that there is a Hadith which states that Arafat is Haj and Eid follows. Furthermore, should we not be keeping the fast of Arafat on the same day as Haajis?
A.1. There is no Shar’i incumbency on us to celebrate Eid with neighbouring countries or with any other country. Even the Sahaabah had adopted this attitude, and our senior Ulama and Mashaaikh had also adopted this stance.
When people desire to impose acts which the Shariah does not impose or command then the consequences are problems and strife. It is not permissible to impose on anyone a permissible act. Furthermore we see no need for assuming an additional unnecessary responsibility. The old system is simple and has no problems.

Narrated Abu Huraira Radiallahu Anhu:
I heard Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam saying regarding Ramadan, "Whoever prayed at night in it (the month of Ramadan) out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven."
