Losing a usurped item

Question: If someone stole an item, thereafter the stolen item got lost from the thieves posession, what compensation will be waajib?

Answer: If the item was replaceble, which you can get from the shops, it will have to be replaced. If it was as such that there is none of it’s kind available, the value of the item the day it was stolen will be liable on the thief.
