Does Dissolution of the Civil Marriage Constitute Talaaq?

My husband is in the process of divorcing me, due to him committing adultery. He is divorcing me according to South African law. I would like to know would it be accepted Islamically or does he still have to give me all 3 talaaqs?

Answer: Annulling the civil marriage does not constitute talaaq. He will incumbently have to issue you with a Shar’i Talaaq. Three talaaqs should not be issued. He should issue just one talaaq. If you do not want to be taken back then tell him to give you one Talaaq Baain.
