Q. Can sadaqah be given to one’s domestic worker?
A. It is permissible to give Nafl Sadaqah to one’s domestic worker. It is furthermore permissible to give Sadaqatul Fitr (Fitrah) to one’s domestic worker if the worker is struggling to make ends meet and does not have excess items such as TV, radios, ornaments, etc. to the value of the Zakaat Nisaab.
Zakaat, however, has to be given to a poor Muslim.
