Duas are Suspended till One recites Durood
عن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه قال : إن الدعاء موقوف بين السماء والأرض لا يصعد منه شيء حتى تصلى على نبيك صلى الله عليه و سلم (الترمذي رقم 486)
Hazrat ‘Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates, “Duas remain suspended between the heavens and the earth. It does not proceed towards the heavens as long as Durood on Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has not been recited (i.e. there is no guarantee for its acceptance).”
Giving Preference to the neighbours of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)
Imaam Maalik (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) used to commence teaching the students of Hadith and those residing in Madinah Munawwarah before teaching others. When he was asked the reason for showing preference to the students of hadith and the people of Madinah, he exclaimed: “These are the neighbours of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).” (Muqaddamah of Awjaz pg. 78)
