- Imaan:
If you are desirous to become the inhabitant of Jannah then you must possess the very essential qualities of Imaan. Imaan means:
- Firm belief in Allah (having the Quality of Tawheed, or absolute belief in in Oneness of Allah),
- Belief in the teachings of our Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa-sallam.
- Belief in the Five Pillars of Islam and practising upon them.
- Ikhlas:
Another vital condition to secure a lofty place in Jannah is having Ikhlas in all your good deeds. Ikhlas means that all good actions should be done with the sincere intention of pleasing Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala only, with the belief in His Promises and with the hope of gaining His Rewards.
“Out of love for Allah, they feed the poor, the orphan and the captive (saying) ‘We feed only for Allah’s pleasure and desire neither a return nor thanks from you.’” (Surah Insaan: 8 – 9)
- To be free from Debt
There is no way you can gain entry into Jannah, however numerous and sound your good deeds may be, if you are owing anyone any money or you have usurped someone’s rights. In that case you will have to repay that person by your good deeds, or his evil deeds will be transferred to your account once you run out of good deeds.
- Actions that might become barriers between you and Jannah
- Taking and giving riba (interest)
- Backbiting and slandering
- Lying
- Having pride
- Earning income from haraam sources
- Consuming haraam
- Severing bonds of kinship
A Very Special Offer
Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala through His Compassion has given a very special offer to the Ummah of His Beloved Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam in the month of Ramadan. The Messenger of Allah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam said:
“Whoever draws nearer (to Allah) by performing any of the (optional or Nafl) good deeds in (this month) shall receive the same reward as performing an obligatory deed (Fardh) at any other time, and whoever discharges an obligatory deed (Fardh) in (this month) shall receive the reward of performing seventy obligations at any other time.” [Narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah].
So, the month of Ramadan gives us the best opportunity to increase our balance in the book of our deeds so that paying for Jannah becomes easy for us.
Giving Publicity
Wouldn’t you like your dear ones, friends, colleagues, neighbours and every Muslim that you know to become the occupants of Jannah? If so, then it is very essential that you spread the word through Da’wah as Allah says in His Qur’an Kareem: “Call to the path of your Rabb with wisdom and beautiful counsel…” (Surah Nahl: 125)
Conclusion
In conclusion we must remember that Allah has the absolute power to decide who gains entry into Jannah and who does not. A person might have committed many sins but one good deed of his might please Allah, the Most High, and through His immense Mercy He may grant him entry into Jannah. We do not know which action or which person’s du‘aa will be the means of drawing the Special Mercy of Allah Ta‘ala.
Finally, let us sincerely pray to Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, that He makes us the inhabitants of the highest level of Jannah, Jannah-tul-Firdaws as described in the hadeeth given below…Aameen, thumma Aameen.
“…When you ask Allah for Jannah, ask Him for al-Firdaws, for it is the highest part of Jannah. It is in the middle of Jannah, and its roof is the Throne of the Most Merciful.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)
