The Muslim was not Created to ‘go with the flow’…
Allamah Abu al-Ḥasan al-Nadwi wrote in:
‘What the World Lost due to the fall of the Muslims”:
“If we want to regain our position in leading humanity once again, we must have this true belief which leaves an impression in everything we say or do; the belief that the Muslim was not created to go with the flow, nor to go along with humanity in whichever direction or path it takes. Rather, the Muslim was created to direct the world, the society, and the city; and to impose his own direction (way of thinking) on humanity, and impose his will on it, because he is the carrier of the message, the one who has the infallible knowledge, and he (the Muslim) is responsible for this world; how it’s running and in which direction it’s moving. So, He can not be in a position of imitation or following others.
His place is in leadership; directing and guiding, and to be the one who commands good and forbids evil, and in case he loses grip or the society disobeys him, or deviates from the right path, he would never surrender, submit and make peace with the fait-accompli. Instead, he should rise against and defy the situation, and remain in this struggle until the decree of Allah Almighty is established.
Giving up and being submissive to the difficult circumstances, and using ‘the decree of Allah’ as a pretext is indeed the way of the weak and the defeated.
As for the true believer, he himself is the predominant and irreversible decree of Allah Almighty.”
