Fools Rush In
Hazrat Thanwi رحمه الله writes:
“One preventative (in the path of sulook) is to demand and hasten in the attainment of results. A person would think, “I have have put in so much effort thus far but to no avail.” This results in one losing faith in one’s shaykh or in one ceasing to carry on their effort. The true talib should understand that nothing comes from hastening and rushing. This person should realize that one time they were a child…How long did it take for this person to reach their youth? A person was ignorant before, but how long did it take for them to acquire some knowledge? The point being, demanding and rushing for results is tantamount to having unreasonable demands from one’s guide.”
