Appreciating The Favours Of Allah – Incident of Hadhrat Shaykh al-Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya رحمه الله

Hadhrat Shaykh al-Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya رحمه الله once noticed that some people had thrown left over pieces of water melon in the garbage which was situated opposite his house. Regarding this incident, Hadhrat Maulana Yusuf Motala رحمه الله  writes:

Hadhrat [Shaykh al-Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya] saw a little bit of redness in these pieces. He picked up a few pieces and saw that all [of them] had a little pulp in them. He became angry and asked, ”who cut them in this manner?” He also said, ”take all of these, wash them and cut the red part aside.” Thereupon, Hadhrat himself took some of the pieces in the Majlis (gathering) that was held after ‘Isha and said, ”these have been picked up from the rubbish patch and [have been] cut. Therefore, whoever wishes to eat, may do so. Today, I am only going to eat these.”
