YEARNING FOR MEDINA SHARIF
The most unusual scenery, the best get away yet a person still desires after a considerable amount of time the return to his home. Upon returning from this long journey, once close proximity is felt hoping well his family will be there to embrace him, this feeling by those who experienced it cannot be described in words. If this journey was by car he would eagerly tramp the accelerator in anticipation.
The real home for our hearts lies in Medina, where he ﷺ who was sent as a mercy to the entire universe rests. Real love demands love for the area of ones Beloved. By the mere vision of the walls of the Beloved’s area ﷺ , love is multiplied a million fold!
The Love Nabi Kareem Mustafaﷺ Had For Medina
Hadhrat Anas رضى الله عنه narrates, “Whenever the Honourable Prophet ﷺ returned from a journey and observed the walls of Medina, he would make his Mount go fast, and if he was on an animal (i.e. a horse), he would make it gallop because of his love for Medina” (Bukhaari)
عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ (أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا قَدِمَ مِنْ سَفَرٍ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَى جُدُرَاتِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَوْضَعَ رَاحِلَتَهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ عَلَى دَابَّةٍ، حَرَّكَهَا مِنْ حُبِّهَا)
Death In Medinah
Hadhrat Abdullah Bin Umar رضى الله عنه narrated that Habeebuna ﷺ said, “Whoever is able to die(able to reside thereby passing away) in Medina, should do so for I will intercede for he who passes away in Medinah” (Tirmidhi)
عن ابن عمر، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: (من استطاع أن يموت بالمدينة فليمت بها، فإني أشفع لمن يموت بها)
Punishment For The Innovators In Medina
Such honour demands a great amount of respect for Medinah, such that our hearts are struck with awe just by the mention of ‘Medinah’ however a careless innovator should be weary of the consequences of bid’ah (innovations) in Medinah
Habeebuna ﷺ said, “Medina is sanctuary, whoever innovates something new (in religion) or shelters an innovator in it will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people, and Allah will accept from him neither an obligatory nor a supererogatory prayer on the Day of Resurrection” (Muslim)
قال رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم-: «المدينة حَرَمٌ فمن أحدث فيها حَدَثًا، أو آوى مُحْدِثًا؛ فعليه لعنة الله والملائكة والناس أجمعين، لا يقبل الله منه يوم القيامة صَرْفًا ولا عَدْلًا
This should accelerate the awe in the heart for Medina and drive one to increase in sending durood upon Nabi Kareem Mustafa ﷺ
When Did The Command To Recite Durood Come?
According to one view it was the month of Sha’baan because the verse pertaining to durood was revealed in this month (Al-Qawlul Al Badee)
How Should One Recite Durood?
The Sahabah رضى الله عنهم said to Rasulullah ﷺ that they knew the method of salaam. But they were not aware of the method of Durood. Rasulullah ﷺ taught them the Durud-E-Ibraaheem (presented below which we recite in salaah)

| اَللّٰھُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلٰٓی اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ کَمَا صَلَّیْتَ عَلٰٓی اِبْرَاھِیْمَ وَعَلٰٓی اٰلِ اِبْرَاھِیْمَ اِنَّکَ حَمِیْدٌ مَّجِیْدٌ اَللّٰھُمَّ بَارِکْ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلٰٓی اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ کَمَا بَارَکْتَ عَلٰٓی اِبْرَاھِیْمَ وَعَلٰٓی اٰلِ اِبْرَاھِیْمَ اِنَّکَ حَمِیْدٌ مَّجِیْدٌ |
| Translation |
| O Allah, let Your Blessings come upon Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the family of Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), as you have blessed Ibrahim and his family. Truly, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you have blessed Ibrahim and his family. Truly, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. |

| Allahumma SalliI Ala Muhammadiw Wa Ala Aali Muhammadin Kamaa Sal’laita Ala Ibrahima Wa Ala Aali Ibrahima Inna’ka Hamidum Majid. Allahumma Baarik Ala Muhammadiw Wa Ala Aali Muhammadin Kamaa Baarakta Ala Ibrahima Wa Ala Aali Ibrahima Inna’ka Hamidum Majid. |
