*13 DESPICABLE QUALITIES OF THE REBELLIOUS Y THAT CAUSED ALLAH TA’ALA TO CURSE THEM FOR EVER*

_These are the 13 qualities Allah Almighty has mentioned about the rebellious Jews in the Quran for which they were cursed, and which they are engaged in presently too:_

  1. *Severe enmity and hate towards the believers*

(You will surely find the most intense of the people in enmity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah) (Al-Maidah:82)

  1. *Killing the Prophets and Messengers of Allah.*

We had already taken the covenant of the Children of Israel and had sent to them messengers. Whenever there came to them a messenger with what their souls did not desire, a party [of messengers] they denied, and another party they killed. (Al-Maidah:70)

  1. *Distorting (Changing) the Torah and lying about Allah.*

Do you covet [the hope, O believers], that they would believe for you while a party of them used to hear the words of Allah and then distort the Torah after they had understood it while they were knowing? (Al-Baqarah:75)

  1. *Worshipping false gods and falling into shirk.*

And [recall] when We made an appointment with Moses for forty nights. Then you took [for worship] the calf after him, while you were wrongdoers. (Al-Baqarah:51)

  1. *Spreading Fitnah and corruption on earth.*

Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], Allah extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and Allah does not like corrupters. (Al-Ma’idah:64)

  1. *Jealousy, envy and a dislike for good for the believers.*

If good touches you, it distresses them; but if harm strikes you, they rejoice at it. And if you are patient and fear Allah , their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do. (Al-imraan:120)

  1. *Breaking the covenants and promises.*

And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], “Do not worship except Allah ; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakah.” Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing.(Al-Baqarah:83)

Is it not [true] that every time they took a covenant a party of them threw it away? But, [in fact], most of them do not believe. (Al-Baqarah:100)

  1. *Mocking the religion of Allah*.

O you who have believed, take not those who have taken your religion in ridicule and amusement among the ones who were given the Scripture before you nor the disbelievers as allies. And fear Allah , if you should [truly] be believers. (Al-Maidah:57)

  1. *Consuming interest (Riba) and unlawful wealth.*

And you see many of them hastening into sin and aggression and the devouring of [what is] unlawful. How wretched is what they have been doing. (Al-Maidah:62)

And [for] their taking of usury while they had been forbidden from it, and their consuming of the people’s wealth unjustly. And we have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful punishment. (Al-nisaa:161)

  1. *Hardness of the heart.*

So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard (Al-Maidah:13)

  1. *Cowards and loving the worldly life.*

And you will surely find them the most greedy of people for life – [even] more than those who associate others with Allah . One of them wishes that he could be granted life a thousand years, but it would not remove him in the least from the [coming] punishment that he should be granted life. And Allah is Seeing of what they do.

They said, “O Moses, indeed within it is a people of tyrannical strength, and indeed, we will never enter it until they leave it; but if they leave it, then we will enter.” (Al-Maidah:22)

  1. *They seem united but in reality they are divided.*

You think they are together, but their hearts are divided. (Al-Hashr:14)

  1. *Humiliation*.

And they were covered with humiliation and poverty and returned with anger from Allah [upon them]. (Al-Baqarah:61)
