THE DECEPTION OF THE WORLD (Part 2) – Hazrat Moulana Thanvi رحمه الله
Hakeemul Ummah Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi Sahib رحمه الله has said that the love of the world are found both in men and to a greater extent in women. We have to bear in mind that the teachings of Sayyidina Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم surpasses all other advices and teachings. What Sayyidina Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم has said is in fact from Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله. However, a great excellence in women is that they do not harbour doubts regarding the commands of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله and Sayyidina Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم. No sooner do women learn of the commands of Shariah, they lower their heads in submission.
A unique quality in women is that even if they do not act on the teachings of Deen, they will not probe into the wisdom of any injunctions. This is contrary to the case of men who fall short in the department of submission; particularly these days where the worship of intellect has reached such a stage that reasons are sought for everything. Every aspect of Deen is weighed on the scale of intellect and judgements are passed on the basis of personal opinion whether the aspect fits within the parameters of intellect or not. The beauty of women is that they accept and submit irrespective of whether they understand or not.
Another trait in women is that notwithstanding their understanding of Deen; if a matter of Shariah is explained to them correctly, they will submit without objection. Hakeemul Ummah Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi Sahib رحمه الله has said that disease of the love for the world is so spiritually destructive that all our pious predecessors have warned us repeatedly about the dangers thereof. Hazrat Thaanwi رحمه الله has given an abridged translation of a Hadith;
“The world is the home of that person who has no home.”
In other words, the world is not a place to be regarded as home. We can relate to the fact that everyone loves their home and this is particularly apt for the women because they spend the bulk of their time at home. People love their homes for the ease and comfort they experience. Some love their homes because of there not being any imposition from others; very simply they can do as they please at home.
The gist of the discussion is that the sum total of relief from anxieties is summed up in the word ‘home’ – all the bounties of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله, be it in honour, wealth, children and food are included within one’s home.
