I understand that watching tv is haraam. what if a person uses a tv for internet or radio or surveillance cameras?
Answer:
Using a TV screen for the internet or radio and surveillance cameras when there is an imperative need for surveillance, is permissible. However, keeping a TV screen will give the impression that one watches haraam television. It is not advisable therefore to utilize a TV for the purpose mentioned. Furthermore, the possibility of watching actual TV is not remote. Thus, a computer screen should rather be utilized.
