Exchanging Money in the Masjid
Q. Kindly elaborate on the mas-alah which appeared in your Ta’leem and Tarbiyat Series #5: “Changing notes for loose change in the Masjid is a business transaction (bai’) which is not permissible in the Masjid”.
A. It is not permissible to conduct business transactions in the Masjid. The Masjid is a sacred abode reserved for the Ibaadat and Thikr of Allah Ta’ala. Worldly activities are therefore proscribed in the Masjid. Business dealings, of which exchanging money is one, are thus not permissible in the Masjid. People are very careless in this regard and hence the reminder.
