Imaam Shaafi’ was a pure Arab. He was from the Quraish tribe as a matter of fact. He was from the progeny of Muttalib who was the brother of Haashim. His lineage links up with Rasoolullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) by Abd Manaaf who is the father of Haashim and Muttalib.
Owing to his Arab blood and Quraishi descent he was exemplary in Fasaahat and Balaaghat (Arabic eloquence and rhetoric/figures of speech). Imaam Ahmad Bin Hambal (Rahmatullahi alaih) used to say: “I found Imaam Shaafi’ to be the most eloquent speaker.”
