Archery and Studying

Imaam Shaafi’ (Rahmatullahi alaih) said: “In my young days I was enthusiastic about two things; archery and studying. I was an expert marksman in archery. My shots were ten out of ten on the bulls eye.”

Imaam Shaafi’ then kept quiet. His student, Amr bin Sawaad commented: “Wallah! Your mastery in Ilm is much greater than your mastery in archery.”
