Hadhrat Mawlana Mufti Zafeer al-Deen, the murattib (one who arranges into chapters) of Fatawa Darul ‘Uloom Deoband, writes:

Hadhrat [Mawlana Qasim] Nanautwi’s respected wife (may Allah shower his mercy on them both) had great desire to listen to the hadiths of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him). Hadhrat Mawlana [Qari] Muhammad Tayyab (may Allah shower his mercy on him) was her eldest grandson. When he had began studying hadith, she would arrange for him to recite them to her, while she listened. Mawlana related the effect this would have upon her:

”After completing my lessons I would return home and repeat them to my grandmother. Tears would continuously flow from her eyes for as long as I talked [about hadith].”
