The life of the beloved Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was between two kinds of perfume, a moral perfume, which he carried in his heart and that flowed in his blood, which was the perfume of the revelation, the Sunnah (Prophetic tradition) and the Da’wah (call) to worshiping Allah, the Almighty. The second was a tangible perfume that emanated from his body and clothes.

Everything about the Messenger of Allah is beautiful, right from the way he spoke, ate, slept, combed his hairs and dealt with his family to his interaction with his companions, everything he did was done with spiritual dignity and this all serve as a lesson for all of us. Our Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) love to spend a life with cleanness, he used to love good scent.

A true Muslim must keep his clothes and body clean, there are many Hadiths in Quran about cleanness. Holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) love cleanness it was mentioned in many Hadith that our holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) love the fragrance of Musk and ambergris. If someone gifted him a perfume he never refused.

Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) loved aromatic stuff and fragrance and he used them and suggested their use for others.

Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم), on waking up he would relieve himself, perform Wudhu (Ablution), and apply fragrance to his clothing. He also used fragrance at night, particularly for Jummah prayers on Fridays.

Love of good Perfume Hadith

“Allah is Pleasant, and enjoys pleasant stuff, clean, and enjoys cleanliness, generous, and kindness” Abu-Hurairah (رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه) reports that the Prophet of Allah(صلى الله عليه وسلم) said,

“Anyone offered Rayan (Basil Perfume) should not decline it. It is light in weight and fragrant in scent.

Which fragrance, the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used?

Holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) always loved to use fragrance like “Musk“. In an authentic narration, the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was taking rest  in the house (that of Umm-e-Sulaym (رضي الله عنها)) and he sweated, so she (رضي الله عنها) brought a bottle and kept extracting his sweat into her bottle.

The Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) then awakened and asked her (رضي الله عنها): “What are you doing, O Umm-e-Sulaym (رضي الله عنها)?” She (رضي الله عنها) answered, “This is your sweat, we take it as perfume to us, and it is from the best perfumes.” By Allah, Umm-e-Sulaym (رضي الله عنها) was truthful, for this was indeed the best of perfumes.

Cleanness is half of Iman (Faith)

The messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said that purification is half of Iman, our religion is based on cleanness Aisha (رضي الله عنها) said.

“A good and neat dress always imparts a positive impact on your viewer, that is why Islam has focused upon cleanness it doesn’t only mean that you have worn clean dress only, it also include clean body, clean cleanness in thoughts also”.

Duty of a Muslim

As a Muslim we must spend our life like Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), Abu hurrayrah (رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه) said “it is the duty of every Muslim to take a bath and wash his body from head to toe”.

Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) mixed all the fragrance

When Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) passed through a path, the fragrance lingered. When his shook hands with someone that person could smell Nabi (صلى الله عليه وسلم) scent from his own hands for the whole day.

When he used to touch gently, the head of a kid, the kid would be recognized among the others by the fragrance. Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) had mixed a lot of perfumes together in one container.
