Wishing Well for Creation
Hazrat Thanwi (Rahmatullahi alaih) would make Du’aa after every Salaah for the Muslim Ummah with these words:
O Allah! Keep us well and pardon us.
O Allah! Grant every good to every Muslim male and female.
O Allah! Honour Islam and Muslims and make us among them.
Disenchant the kuffaar and mushrikeen and do not make us among them.
O Allah! Reform the condition of the Ummat of Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam)
O Allah! Help the Ummat of Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam)
O Allah! Have mercy upon the Ummat of Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam)
He would even make Du’aa for animals.
When news of the Turk’s defeat reached him, he was hit very hard.
He used to say: “Allah Ta’ala has always kept me in comfort and ease. Hence, I was unaware how grief feels. But now I know what it is to be sad. The defeat of the Turks and the abject condition of Muslims have struck such a severe blow on my heart that my food and drink have become bitter and unpalatable.”
Similarly, upon listening to news of the earthquakes of doomsday proportions in Bihar [a state in India], he became extremely uneasy and repeatedly and impulsively such emotional words of Du’aa for the distressed came out of his lips that those sitting by him felt as if their hearts were about to explode.
Sometimes he would become so affected [by the abject condition of Muslims] that he would say: “I feel so bad sometimes that I fear that this sympathy induces me, Na’uthu Billah, to complain to Allah Ta’ala. It is an extremely delicate matter. If the heart does not feel bad, then there will be a lack in benefit to creation; and if it feels bad then there is fear of complaining. Truly, to stay within the confines of the Shariah is treading on Pul Siraat [the Bridge over Jahannam].
It is only Allah Ta’ala Who bestows upon us His favour; otherwise, to stay within limits is extremely difficult.”
