Abu Thowr says: “I was amongst those who opposed Imaam Shaafi’. One day, in his majlis I asked him a question in jest. He did not respond at all. A month later I came to him to learn, in earnest. He said: ‘That question you posed some time ago, its answer is this.’ He added: ‘I never responded to it then because you never came to learn, you came to make fun.”
