“There are two principle sciences of knowledge; Fiqh and Tibb.” (Imaam Shaafi’) Fiqh is the Islamic branch of knowledge detailing practical aspects of the Muslim’s life, whilst Tibb is the science of natural medicine and health. These two sciences cover the external and internal of a human being’s life and hence Imaam Shaafi’ (Rahmatullahi alaih) designated Fiqh and Tibb as, “the two principle sciences of knowledge.” And, Allah Ta’ala knows best.
