Islaah Through Relevant Reminders
![]()
Hazrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (رحمه الله) explained that a wise reminder addresses people according to their present condition and needs. During Ramadan, hearts are naturally inclined towards fasting, worship, and the remembrance of Allah. Therefore, when the virtues and rulings of fasting are discussed, the purpose is not merely to convey information. Rather, the deeper objective is to awaken the spirit of worship and encourage self-reformation (Islāh).
Hazrat Thanwi (رحمه الله) further indicated that not every matter needs to be explained in exhaustive detail. A sincere seeker benefits from the essence of a lesson and reflects upon its implications. Through reflection, many aspects become clear, and spiritual benefit is gained beyond the actual words spoken.
Thus, effective Islāh is achieved when a person listens attentively, reflects deeply, and uses every reminder as an opportunity to strengthen his relationship with Allah Ta’ala.
