Adab in Ilm

I have observed adab [respect and etiquette] in the knowledge I acquired from anyone, be the knowledge that of the Qur’aan, the Hadeeth, Nahw, or any other subject. This conduct of adab was part and parcel of my nature. And when I came to Madina Munawwarah and observed the awe of Imaam Maalik and the dignity of his majlis [assembly of Ilm] then that conduct of mine magnified to the extent that I was even cautious when turning a page of a Kitaab so that the noise does not disturb Imaam Maalik.
