Drop of Honey

A drop of honey fell on the floor and a small ant came along and took a sip from it and then tried to leave, but the sweet taste of honey tempted her to go back for more…
She took a second sip and wanted to leave, but she felt that a mere sip from the edge of the honeydrop was not enough so this time she decided to dive into centre of the honeydrop to enjoy it more and more…
But once she entered it and began to enjoy it, she could not leave and became trapped in the honey until she died…
Some wisemen said: ‘What is the life of this world (dunya) except a very large drop of honey – whoever suffices with taking a small sip from it is saved, and whoever drowns in the ocean of honey is destroyed.’
“Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.”
(Quran 3: 185)
