THE DECEPTION OF THE WORLD (Part 10) – Hazrat Maulana Thanvi رحمه الله
Hakeemul Ummah Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi Sahib رحمه الله has advised that since everything around us does not belong to us but rather loaned to us, the second command of the Hadith becomes absolutely clear;
ولها يجمع من لا عقل له
‘He who will amass this world has no intelligence.’
Hazrat Thaanwi رحمه الله has further mentioned that no intelligent person amasses that which is not his to keep. If he does this (amasses that which is not his), people will refer to him as foolish and lacking in intelligence.
As an example, an individual comes across a field of crops belonging to another; he enters the field and begins harvesting the crop. The owner of the fields will not only verbally take him to task but he will be evicted therefrom. Before being entitled to harvest the crop, he has to first prove ownership. Just as this person is termed foolish for amassing that which does not belong to him, so too will a person who amasses the world be termed as foolish. This is the reality of the world.
The Prophetic prescription is that we become aware of the insignificance of the worldly glitter and under no circumstances should we be lured by the riches and pleasures of the temporary life. We need to continuously remind ourselves that the love of the world is the root cause of all sins.
