The Consequence of Neglecting Dīnī Education
The Importance of Educating Children
“The person who abstains from teaching his children whatever will be of use to them has in fact committed a serious wrong against them.” – Marif Muslihul Ummat
As parents, it is our responsibility to educate our children and provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life. Unfortunately, many parents neglect this important duty, thinking that their children will somehow magically learn and grow on their own. However, this approach can have serious consequences.
The Consequences of Neglect
In most cases, children are eventually disobedient to their parents when the latter were neglectful in educating them from the beginning. This is because children need guidance and direction to develop good values and habits. When parents fail to provide this guidance, children are left to fend for themselves and may develop negative behaviors and attitudes.
The Author’s Perspective
Glory to Allāh! I enjoy reading and speaking on themes of this nature. When I explain these points to you, I think to myself that I have served you. The author of Marif Muslihul Ummat emphasizes that those who are neglectful as regards the education of their children should not think that the harmful consequences of it will not befall them. No, the consequences will come, and they will be severe.
The Cycle of Neglect
When children become totally disobedient to their parents later on in life, it is because parents had been careless as regards their education when their children were young. It is as though they are getting a “full recompense” when their children become recalcitrant and disregard the rights of their parents.
A Personal Story
The author shares a personal story to illustrate this point. A son said to his father: “You neglected me when I was a child, so I neglected you in your old age.” This story highlights the consequences of neglecting our children’s education and the importance of fulfilling our responsibilities as parents.
A Call to Action
The fact is clear before us. Every person has to strive to fulfill the duties which the Sharī‛at has imposed on him. This can turn the world into a garden of Paradise. If not, it will be an example of the Hell-fire. We seek refuge in Allāh ta‛ālā.
May Allāh ta‛ālā inspire each one to fulfill the rights and duties which he is obligated to fulfill so that everyone can be saved from corruption. Āmīn.
