EATING AND FASTING – Did you know?
FASTING FOR PRESERVATION OF HEALTH
Dr. Dewey (American Physician) says, “Take the food away from a sick man’s stomach, and then you begin to STARVE, NOT THE SICK MAN, but the disease. The digestive organs are given some rest. This REST helps them to work with redoubled energy and vigour – just as a land that is left fallow for a year brings abundant crops in the year following; or just as a man who had had some rest works with great vigour.”

EATING WHILE SEATED ON THE GROUND
It was the practice of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) to eat his food in the sitting position on the ground. Such a position has the mechanical effect of compressing the abdomen with the result that the tendency to overeat is far less.
Hadhrat Anas (Radhiallaahu Anhu) has reported that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “When food is placed down, take off your shoes, for it gives more rest to your feet.” (Mishkaat)
