The Lovers of Allah

Fellow Friends! Perhaps you have not seen the Lovers of Allah. Just as you lack spirit, you think others to be the same! You may have just seen a few handicapped faqeers, hence you have come to that conclusion. You carelessly looked at some druggist and thereupon rejected the existence of Hakeem Mahmood Khan. [In other words, you saw some unskilled practitioners and passed judgement that there exists no skilled physician.]

Remember, that in every age there were servants of Allah who, in your eyes are impoverished and distressed, but in reality, they are such people with regard to whom a Buzrug received inspiration that Haq Ta’ala says:

اَوْلِيَائِيْ تَحْتَ قَبَائِيْ لَا يَعْرِفُهُمْ سِوَائِيْ

My special friends are concealed under My mantle. Only I recognize them.

So, what do you know!?

حال شیرانیکہ شمشیر بلا بر سر خورند اے ترا خارے بپا نشکستہ کے دانی کہ چیست

O You whose foot was not pricked by even a thorn!

What do you now, of the condition of those lions over whose heads the swords of adversity strike!?

Since this condition has not passed over you, what do you know!? There are such people whose faces you recognise, their virtues you do not know!

Haq Ta’ala states with regard to Himself:

وَنَحْنُ اَقْرَبُ اِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيْدِ

The gist of the Aayat is: “We are exceptionally close to you, and you are exceptionally far from Us in perception.”

Similarly, there are such servants of Allah who are very close to you in person, but in virtues you are very far from them.

One person would relate that on a Hajj journey there was a person with an exceptionally carefree attitude. “Carefree” does not mean he was unmindful of the Shariat. On the contrary, “carefree attitude” means that he did not have the way of a master, molvi or peer.

زیر باراند درختاں کہ ثمرہا دارند اے خوشا سرو کہ از بند غم آزاد آمد

Trees bearing fruit have a load to carry

How wonderful is the cypress,

for it is free from the liability of worry

His condition during the whole journey was that he would sway and sing love poems. People thought him to be a clown and joker. And truly, his outward condition appeared to be just that.

تو چہ دانی کہ دریں گرد سوارےباشد خاکساران جہاں را بحقارت منگر

Don’t look at the humble people of this world with contempt

What do you know? Perhaps behind that forlorn look there is a hero sitting

Right till the end he remained like that until he reached the Haram, that is Masjid-e-Haraam.

I have called it Haram as it is popularly said, otherwise the entire Makkah is Haram. Yes, popularly Haram is said exclusively for the Masjid-e-Baitullah. Taking into consideration this vernacular, I have called it Haram.

In any case, when he came before the Ka’bah Shareef, he saw its black cover and its indescribable attraction, and his emotion went beyond bounds.

The Tawaaf Guide said: “This is the Baitullah. Now commence your Tawaaf.” Upon these words, he went into sheer ecstasy, and impulsively this poem flowed from his tongue:

کہ مباد ابار دیگر نرسی بدیں تمنا چو رسی بکوئے دلبر بسپار مضطر

Now you have reached the doorsteps of the Beloved

Now sacrifice your life, perhaps this opportunity will not come again, Allah forbid

Saying this, he at once fell down and gave his life. It then dawned that he was a Saahib-e-Haal [a Buzrug overcome with intense spiritual feelings]. He was not a joker.

This was one incident that became exposed, otherwise one does not know what status people have [in the eyes of Allah].
