Imaam Shaafi’ (Rahmatullahi alaih) said: “Whoever tells tales of others to you will tell tales of you to others. Whoever speaks about others in front of you, he will certainly speak about you in front of others. And whoever whilst being happy with you praises you with things which are not found in you, when he is displeased with you he will certainly take out such faults from you which are in fact not in you.”
